The other day, Auto Car released some pictures and information about the upcoming SsangYong e-XIV that will debut at the Paris Auto Show later this month.
No, this isn't the convertible version. This is the XIV-2 concept that was show at the Geneva Auto Show earlier this year.
As the small crossover market has been begging for an EV or an EREV, SsangYong decided to release a few renderings of its vehicle ahead of the show. According to the article, this small crossover uses the growing EREV platform as it uses a small gasoline engine along with batteries and an electric motor. No word yet on the size or power of the engine, battery pack, or electric motor.
The concept, which has similar looks to the XIV-2 concept that was show at the Geneva Auto Show earlier this year, has some nice features. According to Auto Car, the e-XIV concept has a glass roof that incorporates solar cell panels which are likely to be used to provide additional energy for interior systems. They could, however, be able to trickle charge the battery pack, but no information had been released.
The name, e-XIV, stands for Electric eXciting user-Interface Vehicle and, based on their current large SUV offered in limited markets, should be places just under its largest vehicle, the Korando SUV.
