New Bedford, Massachusetts Uses Grant Money to Buy 5 EVs for City Use
Previously, the city of New Bedford, Massachusetts was granted $52,500 to put towards the purchase of 5 alternative-fuel vehicles.
Which vehicles will the city buy? EVs, of course.
New Bedford will spend the grant money on 5 plug-in vehicles, though we’re not precisely sure which plug-ins will be bought (the approved list of vehicles include plug-ins from Toyota, Ford and Mitsubishi, according to South Coats Today).
The grant money was $7,500 per vehicle purchase, which means that the city will have to pay the rest of the balance.
This is just the beginning in Massachusetts, where $550,000 will be granted to 20 communities for the purchase of alt-fuel vehicles. Those communities are expected to buy 47 plug-in vehicles and install 17 charging stations.
The city EVs will be utilized for purposes ranging from permitting inspections to water department usage.
