
Nearly 30,000 Plug-In Electric Cars Were Sold In Europe In November
Plug-in electric car sales in Europe continue to grow by more than a half year-over-year in November, beating overall market growth (+5.9%) and even the hot SUV segment (+32%).
In total, some 29,489 plug-in electric cars were sold last month – enough to be confident that December will bring us a new annual record.
After eleven months, more than 272,000 plug-ins were delivered in Europe.
The three best selling models for the month of November and for the year are:
- #1 Renault ZOE – 1,887 (28,030 YTD)
- #2 BMW i3 – 1,932 (18,490 YTD)
- #3 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – 1,835 (17,556 YTD)
Tesla Model S and Model X were at 1,531 (12,916 YTD) and 1,100 (10,517 YTD) respectively.

More than half a million EVs will be sold in Europe next year. More than a million worldwide.
There were more than a million EV’s sold this year, probably in November.
The Nissan Leaf will do very well in Japan, Europe and the US.
It will be interesting to see how the numbers will look at the end of next year, after Tesla gets Model 3 production going. I would bet the US will catch up or even overtake Europe.
