Motor Trend: Tesla Model X P90D Is Quickest SUV Ever Tested

Motor Trend recent conducted full testing on the Tesla Model X P90D  with Ludicrous Mode and arrived at the conclusion that the X is the quickest SUV the magazine has ever tested.

Here are the numbers from Motor Trend’s internal testing:

  • 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds
  • Quarter mile in 11.7 seconds at 116.0 mph

For comparative purposes, Motor Trend states:

“That beats out many high-performance SUVs including the 2015 BMW X6 M (3.7 sec; 12. 2.1 sec @ 114.3 mph), the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 Coupe S (3.9 sec; 12.5 sec @ 110.5 mph), and both the 2015 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and 2015 Porsche Macan Turbo (which posted nearly identical numbers of 4.2 sec; 12.9 sec @ 107.4 mph and 106.2 mph, respectively).”

Here’s a look at some other (as tested) specs/figures from Motor Trend’s Model X test:

lookin real nice

The Model X is not only the quickest but what makes it really stand apart is that the X is the only one from their list of quickest SUVs to seat 7 passengers.

So the quickest and the roomiest of the bunch.

I just love that this must have the BMW and Porsche CEOs banging on their desks and crapping their pants (in either order). Yes, well, stop producing your grandfather-clock “car mechanisms” and catch up!
