Mitsubishi Signs Deal To Supply Ukranian Police With 635 Outlander PHEVs

FEB 10 2017 BY ERIC LOVEDAY 13

Mitsubishi Motors announced that it secured a deal to supply the Ukranian police with 635 Outlander PHEVs.

It’s not clear as to in what capacity the vehicles will be used for, but they should all be delivered this July. The deal was originally pegged to be for upwards of 651 units, to be delivered in an unknown timeframe.

For Mitsubishi, this is the second bulk government order it’s secured for its plug-in vehicles. The first was from Estonia, where deliveries of some 507 i-MiEVs got underway back in October 2011.

Of note from the press releases is this Outlander PHEV sales statement:

“Since its launch in 2013, the Outlander PHEV has recorded cumulative sales of 80,768 units (as at the end of 2016) and ranked the best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle for four years in a row in Europe.”

– Second MMC Shipment Under Green Investment Scheme –

The supply stems from an emissions trading agreement signed by a number of Japanese companies with the Government of Ukraine. This marks the second time MMC has supplied vehicles under the Green Investment Scheme, the first being to deliver of 507 units of the i-MiEV all-new electric vehicle to the Government of Estonia starting in October 2011.

Since its launch in 2013, the Outlander PHEV has recorded cumulative sales of 80,768 units (as at the end of 2016) and ranked the best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle for four years in a row in Europe.

Amazing, even the police of a war-battered country gets the Outlander PHEV before the USA does!

What Ukraine gets is literally 1000 to 10000 times less than small countries like Greece.

Ukraine had believed USA once a decade ago as they gave up their nuclear weapons for a US promise of peace and territorial integroty. Time has shown, that it was very stupid to rely on America. Much more to hope for any meaningful aid from a Russian spy Trump.

What’s left of it, as Russia attempts to reconstitute the Soviet Block. What a waste, but then Putin is good at destroying things, like people, men, and material.

I’m sure they will be very happy to reduce their reliance on (Russian) oil.

Or, not so great news for all of the “volunteer” Russian soldiers crossing into the Crimean Peninsula and helping the Russian separatists. This Russian insurgency should make the Donbass region safe from any Outlander PHEV’s trying to find a charger in Coal Country or any plug in outlet!

The next one will be Chevy Bolt EV = Opel Ampera E. Both Chevy and Opel cars are assembled in Ukraine for more than 10 years. (I’m the owner of one of them) There will be no need to buy foreign stuff with Chevy Bolt assembled locally. (And that’ll be my next car!)
