Mitsubishi has recently been hit hard by emission scandal.  So hard in fact, that it pushed the company into Nissan control (with its formal rival now owning a 34% controlling interest).

The high profile nature of the scandal, which is based out of Japan, seems to have been a hit to domestic sales right across the board.

Possibly as a result, Outlander PHEV sales also went down 40% in May to 174 units.

After five months nearly 3,500 Outlander PHEV were sold, which is still significantly more than 2,700 in all of 2015.

Whether there will be another summer boom (like in 2015 – which was mostly caused by refreshed version) is still a big question mark.

Are these things ever going to go on sale in the US? I thought that the latest roll-out was planned for Q3 2016….

Maybe the Plug in Hybrid Rogue will be launched in the US first. 😉

Rav4 EV
5kw PV

By our count, it has been delayed significantly on 4 occasions, for a myriad of reasons/excuses.

On the plus side, it has not been delayed again recently, and is actually on the Mitsu plan to sell as part of their 2017 MY lineup. ETA is late October/early Novemeber…so just another ~15 weeks or so to go.

/fingers crossed

I sure wish that vehicle would come here. People still seem to be buying VWs here. I still want my IMIEV back.

Had ours for over 14 months and you guys won’t be disappointed IMO.

Now averaging 85 mpg less electric which takes it down to 65mpg. On all electric average around 23 miles and 100mpge due to Petrol cost of $7 for imperial gallon.

Only done 11.2k miles in 14 months with a lot of short journeys which helps !

174? 3500 in 5 months? The question has to be asked why?

No seriously why didn’t they just offer a very expensive version in a country that wants a phev suv rather than selling a discounted version in Japan? I know there have been regulations stoping them in the US but surely they could have sent more to Australia or maybe Canada.

Struggles? April-May appears to be low volume months. June-July will tell. Don’t try to make news from nothing.
