Mitsubishi To Debut GT-PHEV In Paris, A 75 Mile/120 km Plug-In Hybrid SUV
Mitsubishi presents the first look at its GT-PHEV Concept SUV, which it teased over three months ago. The extended range SUV will make its live debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
On the stage at the same time Mitsubishi will also present its eX Concept and Outlander PHEV.
The new Mitsubishi plug-in hybrid is equipped with an all-wheel drive system, utilizing three electric motors (two for the rear wheels and one for the front axle).
With a new generation of higher-capacity batteries, the all-electric range is extraordinary for a PHEV SUV – up to 120 km (nearly 75 miles) and 1,200 km (nearly 750 miles) total including petrol range extender. Even if those stated numbers are Euro-based (NEDC), a real world result of 90 km/55 miles would still be pretty swell.
Will the GT-PHEV make it into production? It certainly looks ready to go, hopefully Mitsu announces from Paris its intention to put it into production soon!

The front visage with its forceful presence employs MMC’s Dynamic Shield front design concept that portrays the front end’s function of protecting both people and the car. With a muscularity and intensity that gives the impression it has been carved from a single ingot of steel, the body is clothed in classy styling that flourishes sculptured dynamism highlighted by precise detailing.
Inside, the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept uses a horizontal dashboard that creates a spacious ambiance, making it easier for the driver to sense changes in vehicle attitude. Together with an instrument panel with a high center console, the cockpit-like interior wraps around its people, providing a sense of solace and security. Generous use of Burgundy genuine leather trim, color coordinated with the exterior roof color is another touch in creating a classy and comfortable interior space.

This PHEV system comprises a next-generation high-capacity drive battery package, three high-output and high-efficiency motors and an engine designed especially for the PHEV system featuring improved electricity generation performance and motive performance.
This combination delivers the punchy performance ideal for a “ground tourer” and makes for comfortable driving on longer trips as well with an electric-only range of 120 km and a combined hybrid cruising range of over 1,200 km.
