Michelin Man Tests Tesla Model S P85D Insane Mode – Video

Today, it’s the Michelin man’s turn to discover Insane mode in the Tesla Model S P85D.

Michelin tires are now standard on the Model S, no matter the battery configuration or wheel option.

Editor’s Note:  Original video is currently offline (removed by Michelin), a short piece from Michelin on Tesla P85D equipped tires has been added below in the meantime to watch while we try to recover the footage.

The P85D can reach 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. Not bad for a 5,000-pound sedan, right?

Switch to “INSANE” mode, and mash the accelerator pedal; the Michelin man officially approves!

I don’t know why they make and market tires with 80000 mile warranties. Every set of Michelin tires I’ve ever had were severely cracked with dry rot on the sidewalls within about four years from new. (New based on the date code of manufacture, not based on installation date.) Maybe they were still safe, but they sure didn’t look like it.

I don’t think I’ll ever buy another Michelin product as long as I live.
