Mercedes-Benz EQ Concept Driven – Video

2 months ago by Mark Kane 18

Mercedes-Benz was out doing some commercial shoots of the EQ Concept in Portugal, and gave WHAT’S INSIDE? FAMILY the opportunity to tag along, and do a mini-review of its own – include a ride in the all-electric vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz EQ Concept

The concept heralds the upcoming GLC-sized, all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQC, which scheduled for production in 2019.

In some markets customers already can reserve one.

The video entices with the title of “Should I Sell my Tesla Model X for this Mercedes?“.

But well, we are not sure how those two will compare in 2019, especially as there are certainly many twirly-things in the concept that will not live to see production.

As you will see in the video, Mercedes-Benz has played a lot with the lighting, both on the exterior and interior.

Mercedes-Benz EQ Concept spec:

  • 500 km (310 miles) of all-electric range (NEDC – think 225ish in the real world).
  • roughly 70 kWh battery
  • 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 5 seconds
  • 300 kW and 700 Nm of system output (double motor, all-wheel-drive)
  • 30 minute recharge using 150 kW CCS Combo

After stealing from Tesla, they should have more than 225 miles of range.😀

    1. Prsnep says:

      They stole Tesla batteries?

      1. says:

Obviously not, as for the rest of the reverse engineering we will have to wait and see.

        1. SJC says:

That is like saying they stole the idea of a car because it has four wheels.

    2. Someone out there says:

      Just don’t mention the stalks

    3. Karl S says:

MB designed the first automobil. Everybody stolen from them?

      1. eltosho says:

Fun fact: First ICE automobile was invented by François Isaac de Rivaz and it was powered by hydrogen.
Carl Benz did not invent the automobile, he only made it polluting by using gasoline 🙂

  2. George says:

What really scares me is that the car seems much smarter than the guy trying to present it… hope it won’t just open the door and ditch him…

  3. ffbj says:

I know one guy who won’t be buying one.

    1. says:

Yep, the guy that got their X trashed by them. Stay classy, Benz.

  4. Gasbag says:

If pricing starts at 50k they are going to have a huge winner regardless of how much is borrowed.

  5. says:

Borrowed? Is this an attempt to be politically correct?

    1. SJC says:

Good artists borrow, great artists steal.

  6. James Barry says:

Mercedes has a long history with tesla, including investing in them to keep tesla afloat in 2010. They made a $ 1 billion on he investment and walked away able to use some tesla technology. Just took them a long time to jump into the industry. I like what MB showed. I’ll be in line for one, depending on the price. Model X or less pricing that is…

  7. Don Zenga says:

    Great news guys.
Smart-EV for MY-2018 has been launched.

  8. KAM says:

I’ll never buy a electric car, because I don’t trust it, the range is not long enough, only 500 km, means from Brussels to Paris, you have to recharge again, and it takes at least hall hour, or if there is a traffic jam, then you are panick in the highway.

    1. Djoni says:

I say you are already panicking!

    2. Ron says:

You won’t be idling in a traffic jam.
