Mercedes-Benz presented at the 2015 Geneva Motor show its latest plug-in hybrid: C 350 Plug-In Hybrid, which recently went on sale in Europe.

The all-electric range is just 31 km / 19 miles, which on a 6.38 kWh battery is possible only if we trust the NEDC figures.

The second model on the stage was the Mercedes-Benz Concept V-ision e, a new concept van.

Mercedes-Benz equipped V-ision e with a powertrain based on the C 350 Plug-In Hybrid, but wisely increased battery size to 13.5 kWh (and range to a maximum of 50 km) and used larger electric motor for 245 kW and 600 Nm total system power.

Here are photos and videos presenting both models:

It is good to see a PHEV minivan. I hope others automakers follow suit.

It will be interesting to see how PHEV adoption differs between Europe and USA, now that US gasoline is cheap again.

PHEV adoptation in Europe will be MASSIVE. I predict a minimum of 20% in 2020.

The new Mercedes C Class is smaller than I thought. The interior room is exactly the same as the Volt (90 CF) but with 5 CF less trunk space.

Well, GM should be proud of themselves. They were the pioneers with the Chevy Volt and now everyone is getting in on the action. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

On the other hand, GM has been really stupid with their follow on ELR. A gussied up Volt that no one wanted. They need to put Voltec into an SUV, mini-van, and pick-up.
