The Volt commercial was quiet and said nothing about being electric or green or about polar bears or gas free.

This commercial says ” electric car” once or twice the point being the new trend seems to be to minimize jamming electric green down the consumer’s throat.

    It’s like:

Lets take a totally different tack to advertizing electric cars.

Who knows maybe it will work better.

    1. M Hovis says:

I think this add can do great things for electric mobility in general. I love analogies and this one is large. Looking 20 years forward into the future EV/PV/storage market? Exciting times.

    2. Epicurus says:

Polar bears and being “green” no, but how about telling people they can “fill up” for the equivalent of $1 a gallon and have no maintenance costs other than tires and windshield wipers? Those are big sales points to the average redneck.

  2. Roy LeMeur says:

We have come a long way from this…

And the point was? Stupid people stay stupid?

  4. David Murray says:

Wow. BMW has 11.5 million views on that youtube video now, and no telling how many saw it on TV. (has it aired yet?)

I just hope it has a positive effect.

    1. MTN Ranger says:

Yes, it aired near the beginning of the game.

    2. CompuMagic says:

it was at only 4 million around 2 days ago

  5. RedLeafBlueLeaf says:

It should be noted that BMW has aired the previous i3 ad a number of times of football games. In terms of advertising BMW has been the leader among EV sellers.

If I were Nissan I’d be somewhat concerned that BMW is building a reputation of having invented the EV. And, yes, I’ve actually seen a LEAF ad on an actual cable TV program – news, daytime – at a client’s office kitchen. But that’s nothing like what BMW is doing.

    1. See Through says:

Seems BMW is serious about increasing i3 sales n US.

  6. JRMW says:

I watched the ad with 3 people who know nothing about EVs.
they thought the ad was great.

It’s basically saying EVs are the future. Here now.
only old people don’t get it. (Look at the reaction of the young bike rider)

EV enthusiasts are so stuffy now!
The ads are meant to humor you. Get you interested.
You can then use The Google on that interweb thing and learn all about the car

  7. MTN Ranger says:

See what happens when you send an email to: from the commercial.
