The Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4, unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show a few months ago, could get green lighted for production.

News comes from Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann via Autocar.

If Asterion enters production, it will cost significantly less than the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 rivals. A £350,000 price tag is expected, which is just $550,000.

“The discussions inside Lamborghini now are about the potential cost of the car and –
because the car is heavier – the handling, comfort, high-speed behaviour and acceleration.”

Well, we certainly welcome one more beautiful plug-in model on the market and this one, with a 5.2-liter V10 engine and three electric motors, is crazy fast. Acceleration form 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes just 3.0 seconds, while top speed is 320 km/h (199 mph).

All-electric range would be 50 km (31 miles) in NEDC, which translates probably to 20 miles in the real world.

Good looking car. Reminds me of the Miura from 1966 to 1973.
