Jaguar Land Rover Names New Manufacturing Chief To Lead EV Charge

Jaguar Land Rover stands at the crossroads as key decisions must be made to transform plants for electrification.

Jaguar Land Rover announces today that Grant McPherson is to join the Board of Management as Executive Director, Manufacturing.

The new all-electric Jaguar I-PACE is produced at the Magna facility in Austria, while three Jaguar plants in the UK await decision depending on trading conditions after Brexit.

The Indian-owned automaker simply doesn’t know whether it will be profitable to produce new cars in its home market.

Moreover, current Executive Director for Manufacturing Wolfgang Stadler is retiring and from July 1 will be replaced by former Director of Quality and Automotive Safety Grant McPherson.

According to Reuters, McPherson will lead the transformation of the plants to handle electric models.

“Jaguar Land Rover announces today that Grant McPherson is to join the Board of Management as Executive Director, Manufacturing.

McPherson, currently Director of Quality and Automotive Safety, will take on his new position on 1 July and will report directly to Jaguar Land Rover CEO Prof Dr Ralf Speth. He will be responsible for more than 20,000 people working across the company’s UK and global manufacturing operations and logistics teams. McPherson replaces Wolfgang Stadler, who has announced his intention to retire at the end of June, having joining the business from BMW in 2013.

McPherson joined Jaguar Land Rover in 2011 as Operations Director, Castle Bromwich, and has been in his current role since 2013. Prior to joining, he held a number of positions at Honda.”
