“Installing the “stealth” hitch on the i3.”

Friend of InsideEVs, John Higham, owns a BMW i3.

The hitch seen here is custom-built and designed by John’s friend William, a mechanical engineer who’s been selling similar hitches for Nissan LEAFs for sometime now.

Eventually, the hitch system will be produced and available for purchase, but for now it’s one-of-a-kind.

You’ll find an overload of hitch photos here and a detailed write-up of the installation process here.

However, the Tesla Model X will be designed for towing capability, and I think the coming Mitsubishi PHEV may also offer towing.
