In Russia All-Electric Car Market Is Only 33 Units For First Half of 2016, And Shrinking

Mitsubishi i-MiEV Initially Sold Well on the Global Level, But Lately Sales Have Declined Sharply

If you ever wondered how electric car sales are progressing in the largest country (at least by area), here we spot some news from Russia.

In the first half of 2016, sales of BEVs amounted to a palty 33 units (which is roughly the number of EVs owned by persons who have penned an article at InsideEVs this year).

Even worse is that sales decreased by 28% year-over-year.  Although with numbers this low…percentages don’t really matter so much.

The “best selling” all electric car is … the Tesla Model S with 13 units, followed by Mitsubishi i-MiEV (12) and Nissan LEAF (6).

Crippling sales was a tax on , already expensive, imports of electric cars.  Fortunately, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) recently decided that this tax will go away to promote more EV sales, starting this September (details).

So we hope for bigger and better thing in the second half for Russia…c’mon 50 units!

You would expect sales to nosedive in anticipation of the removal of the import tax on BEVs.

0il is the game !

You are right.

“Oil and natural gas sales accounted for 68% of Russia’s total export revenues in 2013”

http://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.cfm?id=17231

Yep. They are a huge oil exporter and they are also a freezing cold country. And Russia has never exactly been known as the most environmentally-minded nation. (Some of worst industrial & military accidents and messes.)

Not exactly the ideal place for EVs.

And they get paid in American Dollars for the oil they sell! So it makes sense that the US wants to end that. Deplete Russia from the oil income and not allow it to have any American dollar reserves. So you see it is a recipe for war and at the same time it is 100% guarantied that the electric car will dominate since 70% of the oil produced from all over the world is burned in cars.

In Russia, all-electric car market shrink YOU.

Russians just love killing People, if not with weapons then with CO2 and ICE nanoparticles. No reason to expect good from the evil empire earning the bulk from oil exports.

Thank you George “Save the Planet” Soros (who also happens to now be the largest Coal owner in the world).

Its curious to me how Billary’s support of the XL pipeline is now ‘an environmental option’ now that Russia has donated to the Clinton Foundation’s worthwhile causes, and also Bill Clinton got his highest speaking fee ever in Moscow. Of course, now Russian partially owned ‘Uranium-One’ now has mines in the states.

So when the Hildebeast wins the presidency -although not looking too healthy lately, either she or ‘Citizen Kane’ will make even more mutually beneficial deals.

Breitbart? Now your chemtrails obsession makes more sense.

I’ve obtained none of that particular information from Breitbart.

“Obsession”? Wrong…. Since you don’t have any intelligent comment to make, you just throw out that bromide.

Its a relatively minor issue in my locale, as I’ve explained previously.

However, the link I provided may give the serious reader who happens to deeply believe in man-made ‘global warming’ the nagging doubt in the back of his mind that he might be unwittingly be being ‘scammed’.

Without realizing it, your “Obsession” comment while at first blush seems totally unrelated, the fact is Global Radiation Management programs (one of several ‘proper’ terms) have now made me believe in Man-made-global-warming, since they are CAUSING it.

IN other words, how to turn a non-problem into a big problem – so now you have pollution AND heat.

Remember re-runs of the “A-TEAM”?

I used to wince at Mr. “T” going around with a broad brush calling everyone a “FOOL”.

Now, I stand corrected. Its good advice until its proven that the other person can actually come up with an independent thought.

Russians still didn’t destroy Iraq completely for no reason..

In Russia,cars plug you!

Ha!

Terrable! Terrable!

Honestly Russia as if now is kind of a not so good place for electric cars. The reason why is the bulk the electric cars have low range. Russia it’s self has a lot of vast very rural distances in it with extreme cold.

You guys are not going to see many EV’s sold in Russia unless they have 300 mile range EV’s for under twenty thousand dollars. It’s Russia cold climate that stops large volumes of low range EV’s being sold.

If only there were a way to make a PHEV powdered by vodka biofuels. Problem solved.

We should not expect much better numbers from Russia. When it comes to consumer products adoption they are typically behind by about 50 years.

The rEVolution has to be global to work. They will come around in time, but it seems to me they are missing big opportunities..

It could have been…in 2012…

Now it’s for 2025… It reminds me of all those AUDI, VW, BMW announcements for later later later…

http://bellona.org/news/transport/electric-vehicles/2016-01-putin-pushes-electric-car-development-in-russia

“According to the Russian-language Cartimes news portal, 2015 saw the purchase in Russia of 82 Tesla Model S electric cars, 27 Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric cars, and 26 electric Nissan Leaf cars.”

Well . . . what do you expect from a relatively poor nation that makes much of their money on oil exporting?
