Hollywood And Its Celebrities May Be The Ticket For Promoting EVs

HOLLYWOOD IS WORKING HARDER TO PROMOTE ELECTRIC CARS AND CLEAN ENERGY

Tesla’s cars have become popular with many of Hollywood’s biggest stars. But more recently, many of those who are behind-the-scenes on today’s television and movie sets are embracing the electric car and clean energy. Ian Bailey reports in The Globe and Mail that movies and television shows “with green content can [help] drive sustainability.” And that’s an important message that can be promoted from Hollywood to the masses.

Bailey says, “It’s a point the TV and film industries are trying to make with viewers, in the same way they turned against smoking and other uses of tobacco in previous decades.” Bailey interviewed Clara George, a producer on The Arrangement, a television series which included “a subtle nudge to viewers about the importance of sustainability.” For instance, “Another character on the show drove a Tesla.”

“People are very worried they are going to have to change their lives dramatically to take any sustainable steps,” George says. “What we can show them is, ‘No, you don’t. They can just be in anything.’” She adds, “What drives me crazy is that people still think it’s a discussion. We need action now… I don’t think climate change is debatable.”

Zena Harris, creative director of the Sustainable Production Forum at the Vancouver International Film Festival explains, “We don’t want to necessarily impact the creative element in terms of story line… But if [a character] is going to be driving a car somewhere, could that car be an electric vehicle? This is where we start to normalize behaviours onscreen, and substitute in products and behaviours that are more environmentally conscious.”

Jeremy Mathieu, a sustainability adviser for the BBC, is reported to have “encouraged producers to depict electric-car charging points in the background of a street scene… [and] have characters working in the green industry and mentioning climate change or pollution as part of a conversation.”

BBC’s Mathieu adds, “By showing on screen that we understand the changes that are happening, we can show the audience that we get it, we are with them in this, we are relevant in this changing world and there is, indeed, hope that we can address and deal with these major problems.”

When you are payed exorbitant amounts of money, and in the spotlight, I think thoughtful, considerate people often develop a cause celeb. Partially out of guilt combined with a natural desire to do some good.
Because they want to do some good with their celebrity, but they’re busy, there really isn’t anything much easier than supporting electric cars. Besides they’re cool, and it helps one maintain an image of being on the cutting edge, with it, hep, or in, if you prefer.
Oddly words and phrases once In favor to describe a cool cat are now rarely used.

Darius Tanz drives a Tesla.

gaszton42

For Darius Tanz character was model Elon Musk!

ffbj

I thought that was the case, but I did not know that, thanks.
Tanz, like Musk, has to do everything himself.

Will

Nope. Mainstream America hates Hollywood celebrities.

marshall

If that where true, we wouldn’t have the Kardashians.

Will

They hate her too. They consider them jokes

ffbj

I think you have a rather high estimation of what main-stream America likes or dislikes.
We are not known across the world as having a great deal of taste, in anything.

Get Real

You mean in Trump land.

Will

Yelp. Didn’t he win the Election 😂😂😂😂😂🤔

Will

Now get sports stars and Fox News to like EVs and then mainstream America will consider them

Get Real

Faux News to like EVs when they are being paid to not like them.

You are beyond redemption in you ignorance.

Will

No. Didn’t the mainstream America won 3 Presidential election out the 5 in the last 18 years. They might go for #4 in 2020 if Dems don’t get someone that’s not a socialist, feminist, abortionist, anti USA 🇺🇸 and a Liar

Get Real

Do you have any more Breitbart level right-wing talking points to add while your at it you loser?

Will

Shouldn’t the Dems have a leader in the waiting getting exploratory campaign up in running by now

Will

How about you pay them more

MDEV

No mainstream America, only the radical 30+% who hates the planet earth nature, technology, science and education and believe they are the chosen over any other living thing.

Speculawyer

Yeah, clearly. No one watches television shows. No one watches movies. No one buys celebrity magazines. No one goes to TMZ to read gossip. Sure pal.

Will

Small majority. Top rated programs are sports programs and CBS( conservatives)

Mister G

Then how did Trump win?

marshall

After they destroyed the two Ferrais in Magnum PI, they have shown him driving out in a Tesla in the third car.

William

I would rather watch Margot Robbie and the Nissan Leaf, than the New Magnum pi totaling multiple ICE Ferraris, and then defaulting to a Tesla, as his third choice.

Bunny

Alyssa Milano has a Leaf and Volt.

WARREN

Several celebrities have the BMW i3

Will

And we don’t care

Get Real

Spoken of like a true Trumpster.

amt

THAT IS GOOD !

amt

BTW…, How do you Know that Elon’s Ass is “Lilly White”? rotflmao

BEVfan

You need to start using a warning sign for the sponsored articles.

antrik

You mean like the “BY EVANNEX” right next to the title, and the multiple explicit mentions within the article?…

Valters

Ready player one shows Nissan leaf.

Will

They should have shown Tesla’s and i3s

John

“Billions” has an episode with Model S’s fairly highlighted.

Mister G

“Shameless” had a model x in one of their episodes.

Philip

“Jeremy Mathieu, a sustainability adviser for the BBC, is reported to have “encouraged producers to depict electric-car charging points in the background of a street scene…”

Or, even better, show scenes of the EV owners arriving home and plugging in as they walk from the car to the house. It would only add a couple of seconds to a scene. 😊

Will

That’s better

I see Tesla vehicles on many TV shows and movies. They are a natural for fast sleek vehicles on any show. There is EVen a website listing many of them. https://www.imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Tesla_model-Model+S.html
