Happy New Year - Nissan's Electric Tale

Happy New Year – Nissan’s Electric Tale

Nissan wishes us all a Happy New Year 2016 by presenting one of its most beautiful videos: Nissan’s Electric Tale.

200,000 LEAFs around the world dream about where electric power will take them this year.

“On New years eve, a Nissan LEAF takes on a life of its own and embarks on a magical journey without ever leaving its garage.
The future of driving is closer than we think.
Just imagine where the power of electric could take us in 2016.”

To my Chevy dealer? I wouldn’t have imagined that…

    1. VJT says:

Nissan should quit the autonomus driving for now and speed up the development of the Leaf 2.0, otherwise they will be competing with the Bolt 1.5, Model III, I3 2.0, etc…

      1. krona2k says:

The fact is that only Nissan knows where they are with LEAF 2.0. My guess is they’re being quiet because they don’t want to impact sales of the current LEAF. I would be surprised if LEAF 2.0 comes out more than 6 months after the Bolt.

        1. VJT says:

True, but to match that time frame Nissan must have a pre production LEAF to show around the release of the Bolt. We will now by the end of the year.

Press the fast forward button please.

          1. Alex says:

In six months GM will sell 15.000 Bolts, perhaps. Nissan could do that in their first month with Leaf 2.

Reminds me of ‘Do androids dream of electric sheep?’

    200,000 LEAFs around the world..
When we get to 200 million EVs out of 1 billion let us know.

  4. scottf200 says:

Nissan PR department working to counteract GM Bolt announcement?

  5. Would someone who does not already drive an EV understand anything about this commercial?

Something that explains the benefits of driving electric would probably be much more effective.

    1. BraveLilToaster says:

In marketing, you sell the sizzle, not the steak.

  6. Someone out there says:

Well, I imagine that Nissan feeling the pressure from the Chevrolet Bolt will rush to develop and announce an upgrade to the LEAF to take it to at least 220 miles EPA.

  7. William says:

Thank you Nissan for the tease! Please don’t let those EV car crushers over at GM steal your thunder on the first to market a 200 mi. / AER mass market ( all 50 states ) under $40k EV. Oh, the fireworks going off next to the paint by the passenger door, really got my attention, as much as the guessometer on the instrument panel showing over 200 ( non lead foot ) mile range. Please, oh please, put telescope steering in the Leaf for 2018! H N Y Leaf and Nissan!

    1. Ambulator says:

I only saw a 210 km range on the instrument panel.

  8. Anon says:

Honestly, it made me uncomfortable watching sparks and smoke with a wet floor, coming out of an EV parked in a garage.

    Nightmare fuel.

    1. ffbj says:

That was sort of odd. I think they were trying to show how the vehicle can drive in any weather. Better would have been to have the water turn to snow, and no sparks please.

    2. ffbj says:

Speaking of nightmares anymore cat ones?
I just wanted reiterate that felines of guilt might be the cause. I thought you might have missed my diagnosis.

    Nice commercial but technically, t
he audio is distorted. Hope that wasn’t on the commercial master.

  10. mike w says:

210 on the guess-o-meter. I see their range meters are still way off.
