Yeay, but can they survive being T-boned by ab SUV? Got to be quick to be first to get this in. 🙂

No time to check for typos.

Ever heard of the Smart Car? Designed by Mercedes?

From “quadricycle

a vehicle similar to the bicycle and tricycle but having four wheels.”

* * * * *

From Wikipedia: “Quadricycles are European categories of four-wheeled microcars defined by limitations in terms of weight, power and speed. Two categories are defined; knowingly light quadricycles (L6e), and heavy quadricycles (L7e).”

It’s telling that the actual title of the Wiki article is “motorized quadricycle”.

If they mean NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicle), then they should say so.

NEV’s are a distinctly American EV classification, and as such, are not globally recognized– unlike the quadricycle designation.

Using the term “quadricycle” to mean a NEV is a distinctly European motorized vehicle designation, and as such, is not globally recognized — unlike the “NEV” designation.

Anon, I see you failed to get the point of my last post. You probably won’t get this one, either:

The Europeans have different categories. The light quadricycle has a 28 mph speed limit. The heavy quadricycle has no such limit. The Twizy is made in both versions. Only one has managed to get past the safety nazis into the US, as far as I know. A french guy brought his with him to Florida.

Must be from the South of France; he’s wearing a cowboy hat. 😉

Being from Eastern Germany myself, this numberplate is from the town/county of Parchim (CH) in Germany. Sorry, no Frenchman.

Right you are. Uwe Renner does sound German.

Someone really needs to make these micro EV’s less fugly.

Ever heard of the micro car called the Smart Car?

Smart’s have a very nice clean design and look awesome

Jason did a nice job on the Smart…

I live in the rural south. Lots of guys around here drive hotrods with antique plates. They drive less than a hundred miles at a time, cruising around at 45-55 mph, looking cool. These cars typically weigh no more than a ton. They often have no top, no fenders, and certainly no airbags, or crush areas. They fly Don’t Tread On Me flags, and think environmentalists are wusses. But they would be fine with Twizys.

“Micro electric vehicles are driven by electric battery propulsion with a power rating of 4-10 KWh …”

I hate to be nit-picky, but KWh is a unit of energy, not power.

You would hope that a firm like TechNavio, which has “Tech” right in its name, would have a better understanding of tech terminology, wouldn’t you?

I hate to be nit-picky too but KWh is not even some kind of valid unit, kWh on the other hand… 😉

What’s wrong with kelvin watt hours as a unit? I mean, besides its lack of utility.

There is a surge of product from the joint venture kown as The Renault/Nissan Alliance.

Headed up by well known Industrialist Carlos Ghosn.

You will remember him from the Chris Paine documentary, “Revenge Of The Electric Car”

This tiny 2 passenger Electric Fueled Vehicle is known as the Twizy. Recently, Nissan has released its own version of the platform and calls it the “New Mobility Concept” for release in Japan.

A best look at the platform is to view postings on this Twitter Hash Tag Wall. Enjoy!

“TechNavio’s report, the Global Micro Electric Vehicles Market 2014-2018, has been prepared based on an in-depth market analysis with inputs from industry experts”

…and then we tossed all of that in the trash bin, pulled some numbers out of a hat, and came up with 14.91 percent.

Big market for off road quads, or 4-wheelers here in the USA. Polaris sees this market, I think.

I wonder if my wife’s handicap scooter falls in the specs for this group? If so, as the baby boomers continue to age everyone will be driving a micro electric vehicle.
