Once You Get In BMW i8, You Will Struggle To Get Out – Video

JAN 28 2015 BY MARK KANE 9

Not many drivers can afford to buy the BMW i8.

A fair part of those who can are high-level executives, but, as it turns out, sometimes they struggle to exit the vehicle.

Here is video from an EV World article entitled “BMW i8: The Executive Exit Challenge

“Several auto industry executives demonstrate how to exit the BMW i8 electric hybrid sports car on the press preview days of the 2015 North American Auto Show.”

Once you are in, how easy is it to shut the door yourself?

It was never meant to be a practical everyday car…

Reminded me of the 1985 Camaro IROC Z. Deep bolstered seats, very low. Exiting feet-first seems to work best. An impractical car, but people aren’t buying it for practicality. I hope.

Almost as good as the line I heard from the guy with two canes walking by the 427 Cobra at the San Diego International Auto Show.

Female companion says “If you got in, you’d never be able to get out”

Guy shoots back: “Once I got in, I’d never want to get out”

Show of hands:

how many people have recently arrived at a destination and wanted to keep driving, because it was simply that enjoyable?

how many of you drive EVs?

how many of you drive a Tesla?

I miss driving my Volt when I go on vacation.

Because you can’t get out?

And it does not have a tow bar

Gosh, seems like they forgot to do standard human usability studies on the entry and exit. The back seat exit process is nearly impossible.
