Fleets across the globe seem to comprehend the fact that electric vehicles save them bundles of cash in just a few years’ time.

That’s part of the reason why the French city of Lyon purchased 10 Renault Zoe electric vehicles.

Officially, the city officials say the Zoes were purchased as part of a plan to reduce Lyon’s carbon footprint and improve sustainability, but we all no money savings part of the reason for buying, too.

The electric Zoes will immediately swing into action, where they will see use by employees of the council for local travel requirements.  The city of Lyon fitted ten charging stations at the site where the Zoes will typically be parked.

Why the Zoe?  Well, the Zoe is perhaps Renault’s most well-rounded electric vehicle.  It features a driving range of around 130 miles (NEDC cycle), a 0 to 62 mph time of 13.5 seconds, a top speed of 84 mph, the ability to quick charge and is priced to sell.  For example, in the UK, Zoe is priced at £13,995 or $21,782 US (after the UK’s £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant) plus at least £70 ($109 US) a month to lease the battery pack.
