Ford C-Max Energi Recalled For Engine Run-On Issue

Ford has issued a recall that affects the C-Max Energi.

The recall actually includes the 2015 Focus, C-Max and Escape vehicles, but the C-Max Energi is the only plug-in affected.

According to reports there’s an issue with a body control module that could allow the engine to continue running even after being properly shut off.

The C-Max Energi has a push-button start, but even Fords with a standard keyed ignition are affected by this problem.

Here’s a rundown of the affect vehicles:

Focus models built in the Wayne, Mich., assembly plant from June 17, 2014 to June 12, 2015, C-Max hatchbacks built in the same plant between April 22, 2014 and June 12, 2015, and Escapes built in Louisville from April 1, 2014 to June 12, 2015 make up the roughly 433,000 vehicles affected.

Ford is contacting owners of affected models and will be replacing the modules free of charge.

I think everyone here is probably more than aware of the issues these ford models have with the engine coming on. I think the problem is the battery, if it was much bigger you could get rid of the engine all together solving many if the issues with these vehicles.

The battery size has nothing to do with this since it happens on the hybrid’s and traditional vehicles ( The Escape doesn’t have a hybrid option )..

What does surprise me is that the Fusion Energi is missing from this list since its a very close cousin to the C-Max Energi.

Makes sense that the Fusion is unaffected… it says the “body control module” is the problem part, and Fusion uses a totally different one. The thing that baffles me about this article is that the article says “the C-Max Energi is the only plug-in affected” but that would mean the Focus Electric isn’t affected… but it DOES use the same module! How is that even possible?

I think all red blooded Americans were waiting for a version 2.0 of the C-Max Energi because there is little room in the back for hunting, camping or biking equipment.

And we’re still waiting.
Previous FORD CEO MuLozy really destroyed the company. No Innovation, and no “Quality is Job 1”.

You can clearly see FORD is Fat and Dump in it’s monopoly position as number 2 in America.

You are correct Sir. We have been waiting for the Plug in Hybrid Escape long before the C-max was announced.

CMAX has been a disappointment. Short EV range, reliability problems, they lied about the MPG, and now a recall. :-/
