Says Euro NCAP.

Only one plug-in vehicle topped a class, according to Euro NCAP results.  That vehicle was the Renault Zoe.  The class in which it is placed is Supermini.

So, hats off to Renault for making the Zoe the highest scoring Supermini in Euro NCAP tests.

In our books, safety should always be #1 when considering a new vehicle to purchase, so in that regard we highly recommend the Zoe is you’re shopping for a Supermini.

BMW is in NCAP one class higher, its in the SMALL FAMILY CAR Class.

Nobody understandy why.
– The BMW i3 is allowed to carry just 4 Passengers instead of 5 with ZOE
– has a much smaller trunk 260L vs 338L
– can load much less in weight 382kg BMW vs 463kg ZOE ( AMS Test )
– has the same size 3999 mm lenght BMW i3 vs 4084mm ZOE (ZOE is longer !)

BMW i3 hast just 4 STARS.

Greetings

Crash tests reflect only a very specific kind of crash situation. If you compare data of real accident casualties, there will be not much difference between a 5 star vehicle and a 4 star vehicle.
