EO Electric Car Can Shrink, Drive Sideways – Video

Funny.  We were watching this video thinking “robots”, and who do you suppose put this thing together?  You guessed it – a robotics company:

The Robotics Innovation Center (RIC) belongs to the Bremen location of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH). Headed by Prof. Dr. Frank Kirchner, here scientists develop robot systems to be used for complex tasks on land, under water, in the air, and in space. The RIC closely cooperates with the Robotics Group at the University of Bremen.

The DFKI, based in Kaiserslautern, Saarbrücken, Bremen and leading a project office in Berlin is the world’s largest research center in the field of Artificial Intelligence.”

So, at about 40mph and a 40 mile range, we’re thinking this is more about the technology that enables linking data from mobile on-board-sensors (on vehicles) with data from an unknown stationary sensor infrastructure in an intelligent and flexible way, independent from brand, manufacturer, or application area,” than it is about personal transportation.  It’s also, of course, about the Cool Stuff You Can Do with Hub Motors.

Here’s the video.  Where do these guys find these music tracks?

It looks like it would be perfectly at home with inner city driving, especially parking. But, if it can’t achieve highway speeds, then it’s uses are somewhat limited.
