EnerDel Partners With B3CG For Lion Electric School Bus
EnerDel announced that it supplied its newest high-density Moxie+ lithium-ion modules and Secure+ Battery Management System to B3CG Interconnect for a Canadian project lead by Lion Bus to build electric school buses. B3CG is responsible for the final battery and wiring harness assembly.
Lion Bus, a Canadian school bus producer, was recently awarded by The Quebec Ministry to develop an all-electric school bus as part of the Transportation Electrification Strategy promoted by the Canadian Government. The government aims to have more then 10,000 EVs on Quebec roads by 2017.
The bus will have 72-seats, composite body materials and will have over 100 kWh battery pack. Expected range will be ~50 miles, which should be sufficient to travel the typical school bus route.
The First prototype battery pack has already been delivered. According to the press release, there are ongoing preparations for the start of series production and first vehicle introductions to regular service are set for 2015. In Canada, over 250 electric school buses are sold every year.
David Roberts, EnerDel CEO stated:
“The Quebec Government has created an exceptional program to develop and electrify public transportation. We are pleased to be part of this technical and economic revolution. Participation in this national program would not be possible without strong partnership with B3CG. This business award highlights a number of recent projects we have delivered to customers in Canada.”
Stefan Baumans B3CG President and CEO remarked:
