EMotorWerks Unveils JuiceBox ATM

APR 1 2015 BY ERIC LOVEDAY 15

World first?  Yes, we believe so.

Here’s the headline:

EMotorWerks Unveils JuiceBox ATM

And the details:

Electric Motor Werks has partnered with OhmConnect to bring you the simplest and most engaging EV charging experience possible. Today, we’re excited to announce a new product, which underscores our commitment to this market – JuiceBox ATM. This new product offering is the culmination of our efforts to revolutionize the industry. It marks an important milestone in the advancement of EV integration into our everyday lives.

Our JuiceBox Classic and JuiceBox Pro customers are already enjoying the benefits of home fueling. Many of them have expressed the need for an integrated ATM, which would result in a significantly enhanced charging experience. In addition to the freedom of never having to make a trip to a gas station, JuiceBox ATM customers will not have to make an ATM run either.

We are looking forward to expanding the network of smart charging stations, now with ATM functionality, throughout the nation.

Unfortunately, there’s no info on pricing at this time.  And with today being April 1, we suspect we’ll never find out how much this unit costs.

April fools it maybe but every time someone charges up their electric car, they ARE effectively getting money back !

We are not such fools after all !

Maybe they could install a coin operated version at truck stops that dispenses various products for protection?

Curse you, April 1st!

This is the money you could be saving by switching to Geico EV

Maybe it is set up to pull electricity OUT OF your car and pay you for it on the spot !

I saw the headline and thought what a silly idea, before I realized its April Fools day 😛

Actually – their website listed this as a news item in February – Created on Thursday, 19 February 2015 22:54 – see – http://www.emotorwerks.com/news

However – it seems that insideevs.com picked it up and posted it for an April 1st Special article!

Cute, anyway!

There’s actually some truth behind this charger. The ATM thing is sort of a tongue in cheek joke. EMotorWerks has some plans in the works, but we can’t reveal the details at this time.

Thank you for picking up the story, Eric! Yes, this joke is very much tongue-in-cheek. Both V1G and V2G should see some interesting developments in the near future. It’s entirely possible that a charging station could make the owner some money.

Thanks for noticing that, Robert. The February date was entirely unintended, and has been addressed.

To me the Keypad looks like an old Public Phone Keypad, and the power cord plug hangs up like a phone, so maybe – you can all home with this, too?
Charger – Check!
ATM – Check!
Emergency Phone – Check!
General Personal Items Vending – Fail!
V2G Payment Terminal – Check!

🙂

😀

It almost makes sense. If you are installing an expensive public device which requires both internet access and electrical power, why not have it serve another purpose like being an ATM? That would provide a second income stream.

It really is not such a terribly bad idea.

I suspect the NSA, FBI and other Law Enforcement Agencies, will sniff data packets from your net-connected EVSE, to see when it’s being used, and for how long…

See I was hoping for the opposite… I set this up outside the hour for others to pay to charge there. 🙂
