Elon Musk’s Top 25 Answers (via Reddit AMA – w/cat video)

JAN 9 2015 BY TDILLARD 11

The obsessive weird stalkery guys interestingly, um, focused folks over at WheresElon.com have compiled the top 25 questions and answers to Musk’s Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) event the other day.  Our fave?  A decidedly un-EV related AI question:

6. A friend of mine is all paranoid about the computer singularity, and used your name as a source of his paranoia. Don’t you think it could all be a bunch of hype?
The timeframe is not immediate, but we should be concerned. There needs to be a lot more work on AI safety.
And, with all due respect to the Roomba dude, that is not a concern.

…because, who can resist a cat in a shark costume chasing a duck on a Roomba?

There was an ever-so-slight conversation about the Model 3:

13. Can you share anything about the Model 3 that we don’t already know?
It won’t look like other cars

Also, this:

7. What daily habit do you believe has the largest positive impact on your life?
Showering.

Back to Tesla and EVs. Thought this was an interesting response. It would be great to have some clarification…

So… probably this is related to aerodynamics – I think of a shape more like EV1 or the first Honda Insight (covered back wheels, please!).

Another approach would be the general room layout of the car. The “engine” hood of the Model S was just for consistency with the general car look, because there is no engine, just a frunk. The question here would be: How can you arrange the seating and storing spaces of a car without engine to improve usable space look/feeling and safety.

Im curious about Teslas answer.

I’m wondering if by 2017 – 18, the underlying assumption will be that even $35k Tesla cars will be AutoDrive capable, and will be Salon (not to be confused with Saloon) Styled. Essentially, a living room on wheels, with seats that rotate to face each other, and fold out tables for your connected devices, etc..

Is this a EV side ?? Or more and more gossip ,gossip.

I, for one, welcome our new robot riding cat overlords.

Answer 18 is interesting also and gives a clue that MCT will have about forty 230 tons engines. That’s way beyond the octaweb.

Had no idea the Mars Colony Transport system, was the real reason why SpaceX abandoned second stage return development. Had heard it was due to reduced lift from having to carry extra fuel, and abandoned based on purely physics reasons. I guess that was not the case…

The MCT Launch System sounds frightenly MASSIVE. I want to see comparisons between the Falcon Heavy, and the Saturn 5.

I use that Video all the time to harass Anaheim Ducks fans during San Jose Sharks games versus Anaheim Ducks hockey games. (F the Ducks!)
