ELLA recently launched its first fast charging station at the A22 highway near Vienna, Austria.

The 50 kW station, supplied by ABB, is a multi-standard unit with two DC outputs (CCS and CHAdeMO) plus AC Type 2 to enable charging of different models.

Within two years time, ELLA plans to have a nationwide network, powered from 100% renewable sources of electricity.

Charging for now seems to be free, but in 2015 ELLA plans to introduce some tariffs and charge for charging. We believe that before commercialization, there will be open a bunch of additional locations.

What’s even stranger then this project is that I was looking on the Plug Share Map and noticed that a new Chain of DC Fast Chargers opened up between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg Pennsylvania. The funny thing about this new chain of DC Chamo fast chargers is that they are being put in at the Sheetz gas stations which is helping from a route between Pittsburgh and Lancaster County Pennsylvania. This system of DC fast chargers also is one of the few systems that allows someone to cross over 200 mile section of very rural territory between two major cities.
