Electric Ford Mustang Demolishes 2011 Shelby GT500 – Drag Race Video

Watch as the Zombie 222 Mustang blows the doors off a supercharged 550 horsepower 2011 Ford GT-500.

The cost to build this all electric mustang was approximately $200,000 dollars.  When you build a vehicle set up for the track, is it ever cheap?

Unlike ICE, an electric motors torque is instant and is available at very low RPM, which give the Zombie 222 the upper hand. Not to mention that it has a lot of torque!

Here are the current specs on the Zombie 222:

Wow. With LiPo batteries.
What would better batteries do!

poor gt-500. wha whaa whaaaaa…..

It’s events like this, that will help change the minds of rural America, that electric is better.

I like that 125 mile street range, 42kwhr pack! I didn’t know they were making these hot rods with such large packs. I guess you kind of have to get the pack large to get the power you need.

That’s one humiliated gas head.
Seems like he could knock quite a bit of time off if he didn’t take 2 seconds to shift gears.

Or maybe, when you know you just had your backside handed to you, you don’t bother abusing your equipment. Live to fight another day, so to speak….

1800 ft-lbs of torque

The second one shows the eye-crushing acceleration to better advantage – it is logic defying to watch (after growing up watching Garlitt’s rail dragsters and Their speed that I thought nothing could touch).

Almost skipped this, Thanks! (mebbe add ’68 to the title?)

Stupid gasser is so loud you can’t hear the “whirrrr” of the EV.

Barely hear the EV motors on the burnout video as well!
The direct race sound like the Mustang EV was edging traction limits and launching, while the Gasser was getting their power together! Chirp, chirp, chirp…gone!

Quick update…

Ran 1/8 mile at Little River Dragway in 7.03 with a 0-60 time of 2.82…

More to come…
