Electric Car Sales In France Reach 15,000 In 2014 After Record-Breaking December
Electric car sales in France reached a new record of 2,232 registrations in December!
Sales have never been higher, and only because of this last month of sales, the overall market grew in 2014 compared to 2013.
In total, 15,045 all-electric cars were registered last year in France, which is some 7.8% more than in 2013.
Almost 8% isn’t a high rate of growth at this stage, but we hope that recent strong months will bring further growth throughout 2015
According to AVERE, roughly 70% of all of the electric registrations were passenger cars, growing from 8,779 to 10,560. On the other hand, we see a drop inelectric delivery van registrations by 13.3% from 5,175 to 4,485.
Renault ZOE opens the TOP 5 list for passenger cars. 5,970 registrations translates to some 57% of all sales in this category!
The surge of ZOE in December to a record of 1,182 pulled the whole market up, also gave the electric Renault a small gain for the year of 8.3% (see more about the ZOE data here).
Then we have the Nissan LEAF with 1,604 registrations, followed by the Bollore Bluecar with 1,170 registrations, and the BMW i3 (including REx) at 607. Electric smart closes the TOP 5 with 509.
The Renault Kangoo Z.E. leads the electric vans category – 2,657 registrations. Nissan this time wasn’t able to take the runner-up spot. 242 registrations of e-NV200 was enough just for third.
Second best was the Goupil G3 – a workhorse available in many different version. Renault ZOE in fourth isn’t a glitch, those are
ZOE trucks cars registered as delivery versions.
