Downsizing With Matt Damon Boosts Buddy Electric Bigtime – Video

The Buddy Electric from Norway has been out of the EV spotlight since arrival to the European market of solid vehicles like the Nissan Leaf and Renault Zoe. Its last fleeting moment with fame probably came when Ylvis, the Norwegian comedy duo best known for their hilarious pop music send-up “What Does the Fox Say,” stuck a train horn in one and filmed themselves creeping up behind people and scaring the bejesus out of them.

Now, though, the quirky car has been picked up by a bigtime production and will appear on movie screens around the world when “Downsizing” debuts in theaters later this year. The electric vehicle is not the star of the Matt Damon vehicle, but it is quite possibly the A-list actor’s vehicle in the film.

Directed by Alexander Payne,  the sci-fi flick sees a Norwegian scientist find a way to shrink people down to a mere six inches, purportedly for environmental reasons, and hilarity ensues. It also stars Kristen Wiig, Alec Baldwin, Neil Patrick Harris, Laura Dern, Bruce Willis, and Jason Sudeikis, among others.

For the Paramount production, a total of ten Buddys were flown to Toronto, along with six electric Buddy Bikes. Manufactured in low numbers by ElbilNorge AS, the company actually had to borrow some cars back from customers because they didn’t have enough of the required white examples in stock. While we don’t know how its soon-to-be-found fame will affect this EV-pioneering car’s future, we can only hope that it becomes brighter.

They look kind of like a car version of the shuttle craft from Star Trek TNG.

I’d almost think of buying one for that reason alone. 🙂

They forgot the link to the train horn:
