In China, 30% Of Newly Purchased Government Vehicles Will Be Electric
30 percent of newly purchased government vehicles will be electric and other types of new energy vehicles, according to China’s official news agency.
Xinhua News Agency reports that a joint effort from five government ministries and departments demands that 30% of automobiles purchased for government use will be “new energy” from 2014 to 2016. After that, the percentage will rise year after year.
“New energy vehicles” are defined to include pure electric, plug-in hybrid, fuel-cell and solar-powered.
It’s believed that plug-in vehicles will make up the vast majority of the government’s “new energy vehicle” purchases.
