The all-electric utility vehicle Cenntro Metro will be present at the Orange County International Auto Show held in Anaheim, CA from October 15 (today) through the 18.

The Metro is manufactured by Cenntro Automotive in Sparks, Nevada (of which, Sparks has attracted other EV makers like Tesla) for about a year now.

According to the website, there are both lead-acid and lithium-ion versions available.

“Earlier this year, Cenntro launched production of the METRO™, a purpose built All-Electric Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV) that is the most efficient in its class. It is the first electric utility vehicle to use a modular concept that can be fitted with various components to meet many different needs. The METRO™ CUV is street legal and designed with safety in mind. Manufactured in Cenntro’s facility in Sparks, Nevada, it is the first vehicle in its class produced in the United States.

Cenntro has developed and integrated its powertrain, Cenntro Power™ for improved performance, weight balance and handling. The METRO™ can achieve a range of up to 50 miles, speed of up to 25 mph, an MPGe of 209, up to 6.2 M/Kwh, payload capacity of 1,400 pounds, and a payload ratio at 75% (payload over curb weight). The vehicle’s efficient design puts less stress on the lead-acid battery, which extends battery life and travel distance.

Cenntro’s proprietary design achieves high efficiency with low production costs, allowing it to be sold at the best price in its class. It is also designed to have minimal maintenance and a long life.”

“The METRO will initially be available in the EV model, a low speed variation. In late 2016, Cenntro’s product line will expand to include Off Road, and a full speed variation will follow later.”

Peter Wang, CEO of Cenntro Automotive said:

“The METRO is an extremely versatile vehicle. It can be configured for various applications such as maintenance, delivery, hauling, and transportation for many different industries including warehouse, agriculture, landscape, airports and urban operations. The METRO offers our customers maximum flexibility in terms of range, design and purpose. Combined with the affordable price and low cost of ownership, it delivers a great value.”

bla bla bla they will sell ten in a year, give me a break

Am i the only one that noticed that the international model’s specs are much better? 50 mph and 124 miles range. That would sell possibly here in the US. Hell, id buy one if it was the same price as my Leaf. But 25 mph? How is this any different than a Cushman, Gem Car, Zenn, Miles, or any of the other Nev models that havent quite caught on? I mean there is only so many college campuses or airports you can use these things at. Give me one that goes 50 mph and ill take it everywhere. I could drive it to work, get a load of wood pellets from tractor supply, take my atv to the track, haul my riding mower, pick up stuff from Home Depot. Sorry guys, 25 mph is no good unless you live in one of those magical Florida/Georgia golf cart communities that ive never seen.

This is a glorified golf cart..C’MON MAN

This looks exactly like what the market needs, looks ready and probably can do lotsa hard working with their different cargo designs, good for light-duty hauling or. it is indeed an ideal upgraded working utility vehicles for agriculture, maintenance or local city delivery.
