Cadillac ELR 5-Door Imagined

JAN 21 2014 BY JAY COLE 12

Theophilus Chin, the “automotive manipulator” has once again tried his hand at imagining what one of today’s plug-in vehicles would look like – slightly altered.

Today’s topic is the Cadillac ELR – as a five door.  And while there is no plans to give the actual ELR more Chevy Volt-like accessibility, it is a fanciful thing to see.

Mr Chin says on his website about the creation of the 5-door ELR:

Wanted to see how the ELR will look in a more conventional 5-door shape; as an indirect rival to Nissan Leaf. Personally I am not happy with the rear rendering. I can’t figure out what went wrong but it’s just rather poorly rendered. Is it the proportion?”

General Motors has also done a little 5-door design work on the Chevy Volt’s platform themselves in the past – in the form of the Chevrolet MPV5 Concept.

Previous vehicles rendered by Mr. Chin were a Renault Zoe convertible, Tesla Model SC 2+2 Coupe and a Tesla Model ST Wagon.

Sorry.. ugly.

I’d prefer a Voltec Cadillac SRX

Hint to GM/Cadillac: This car is 3 years overdue and would sell like hotcakes ANY TIME.

Uhhh.. Which car? a 5 door ELR? And at what price? If it is anywhere near the current ELR’s price range, it will NOT sell like hotcakes.

Could he illustrate an ELR in a car compactor?

Damn, I’m far too gullible.

Pretty good rendition of the front side, however, I would think he looks more like the back side. 😛

Why am I reminded of the Toyota WiLL VS after I saw this 5-door ELR?

At this point, I’d settle for an artist’s rendering of a GM artist, rendering an EV.

Focus on a Volt based affordable CUV….

Just drop the Voltec into a Chevy Equinox…. It is good enough for lots of buyers…
