BMW i Megacity Studio Now Open In Japan

OCT 16 2015 BY ERIC LOVEDAY 2

BMW has opened its first dedicated i studio last month in Japan. This site will be used exclusively for BMW i cars, which for now includes the i3 and i8.

While we aren’t sure that the BMW two plug-ins can justify the cost of having too many copies of this unique concept pop up, we certainly like the concept of prominently featuring EVs at dealerships as opposed to hiding them out back.

According to BMWBLOG:

“The ceiling on the BMW i Megacity Studio was setup with solar panels to make a power by sunlight in order to charge the electric BMW i3. The surplus of power is used to power the showroom.”

“A BMW Genius resident will be on-site to offer personalized assistance to customers looking to get into electric vehicles.”

BMW Japan opens the first dedicated BMW i showroom. BMW will use the dedicated dealership to showcase the new BMW i3 electric car and the i8 hybrid sports car. BMW’s i Megacity studio features a glass display and it’s packed with recyclable materials found in the i3 and i8, including carbon fiber. bmw i megacity studion images 01 750x482 BMW i Megacity Studio opens in Japan A BMW Genius resident will be on-site to offer personalized assistance to customers looking to get into electric vehicles.
