BMW Japan Launches i8 Celebration Edition Protonic Red
JUN 7 2016 BY ERIC LOVEDAY
Over in Japan, BMW continues its 100th birthday celebration with the introduction of an extremely limited version of the i8.
Called the BMW i8 Celebration Edition Protonic Red, only 20 units will ever be produced (akin to an earlier limited release of just 50 “shadow sport” i3s).
As BMWBLOG explains:
“BMW i8 Celebration Edition features the new Protonic Red with 20 inch wheels painted in Orbit Grey and the highly innovative laser lights. Inside, the black leather is paired with red stitching, a dedicated gray seat belt, velour floor mats and carbon fiber trim.”
To mark the car as exclusive, BMW installs a dedicated door sill plate and a serial number badge.
No other changes were made to the standard i8 to make this Celebration version.
This limited-run i8 will set Japanese buyers back 22,000,000 YEN ($198,000 USD).
