2015 BMW i8

Earlier this month, BMWBLOG headed out to Southern California to test drive the new 2015 BMW i8.  Along with two extensive written reviews, we are bringing you a video review and footage from our test drive.

BMW i8 will launch in July 2014 and the total capacity for this year in the U.S. is rumored to limited to 300 units. Hence why everyone is reporting the i8 as being sold out

In Germany, the BMW i8 starts at €126,000, while in the UK it will cost £ 99,125. The U.S. market will also get the BMW i8 in 2014 at a base price of $135,700.

He said those were real engine noises.

Pretty hard to believe though that a three cylinder could sound like a V8. Also it sounds like a manual up shift not an automatic or a paddle shift.

The more I see and learn about this car the tricker it becomes.

    1. ELROY says:

I don’t know if most people realize that the 3 cylinder engine is a fairly balanced and good sounding engine configuration.

      1. Joshua Burstyn says:

I’m told if the engine has the proper internal balancing elements a 3 cylinder sounds like a straight six.

Hearing the sound of the exhaust is a step backwards from the Tesla Model S!

So Toyota built the Prius and GM wanted one too so they built the Volt. Now BMW has one. My only question; which one of the three will be brave and offer up a full electric version of the same car?

A full electric Volt or Prius would be much more desirable to me.
