Bjorn Nyland On Left Experiencing Insane Mode In Model S

Provided all ten of Bjorn Nyland’s Tesla Model S referrals take delivery of their cars, Nyland will become Europe’s only winner of a free Tesla Model X under Tesla’s newly announced referral program.

The official wording from Tesla in regards to winning a free Model X is as follows:

Free Model X

The first person to refer ten friends in each sales region— North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific — will receive a free Model X. They will be invited to configure their Model X once all ten friends have taken delivery of their new Model S.

So, Bjorn’s referrals have placed orders, but now are awaiting delivery.  Let’s hope none of them back out.

Bjorn, with his spectacular Tesla videos, is seen by most as a Tesla ambassador of sorts and, as such, deserves the free Model X.

Below is Bjorn’s video on the Tesla referral program. Bjorn notes the following: “(Please don’t post referral links.) My referral link ( doesn’t give any discounts anymore. If you want to buy a Model S with discount, please use the one who actually convinced you into buying.”

Here’s Bjorn’s video posted shortly after receiving 10 referrals:

Great to hear! He’s already referred many more than 10 Model S’s, so he deserves it.

  2. Anon says:

Always thought Tesla should have paid him for all his efforts documenting his personal Tesla Experience. The Model X should make up for that. 😉

    Glad he won. 🙂

  3. pk says:

    Up next:
Bjorn in his new Model X on the Autobahn at 200 km/hr.

  4. Viktor says:

Can’t see that anyone else deserves it more then him.

  5. ffbj says:

    Good for him.

  6. Driverguy01 says:

Happy for him, well donr Bjorn

  7. Anders says:

This is a flaw in the referral programs design IMO; Björn should be able to refer more than 10 ppl in case somebody backs out – initial fee is less than 2 percent of total car cost, quite unlucky if he doesn’t get the car. Or if one of the ten ask him for a contribution of their car, holding the X hostage…

    1. Bonaire says:

He “wins” when the 10 buyers take delivery, I’d think. Also, with a guy like him plastering videos all over the web about Tesla, he could easily garner the referrals. My one big question is “does he have a job?” or is he somewhat already well-off and simply making Tesla videos all the time 🙂

      1. Boris says:

On his YouTube channel it says, he works as a programmer full time and drives his Model S on weekends mostly. It seems he’s not well-off, as in the video he says he still owes $60K on the Model S he drives

what’s with the dog is this video? is that supposed to be tonight’s dinner?

            Donald Trump comment. Boo

            1. no comment says:

in many asian countries, people eat dogs. i read a story by a chinese woman who had a pet dog as a child only to come home one day and find that her parents had slaughtered the dog and made a dog meat stew. needless to say, the (then) child refused to join in eating the stew.

              1. Pushmi-Pullyu says:

Wow. Moving from merely Tesla bashing to making racist comments, “no comment”?

                1. no comment says:

throwing around the term “racism” is such a frivolous manner tells me that you don’t know what racism is.

                  1. Djoni says:

Prety obvions that your comment was racism becsause it’s out of context and unessecary.
But being from you, well we don’t expect a lot more, frankly.

              2. Mint says:

Norway isn’t an Asian country, genius.

        2. Bonaire says:

Norway is the perfect place to “win” a Model X. No sales taxes on imported EVs. In the USA, we have prize taxation – and he’d be paying regular-income value on the Model X that he would win. I wonder if he has similar taxes in Norway for prizes?

  8. Blind Guy says:

Well deserved! We’ll be looking for his Model X videos.

  9. RexxSee says:

Well done. HE is one of the best ambassador!

  10. pjwood1 says:

    Congrats Mr. Nyland. Great story!

  11. Tyl says:

    Awesome!!!! Way to go Bjorn!!!

  12. taser54 says:

If Tesla is making $20k per Model S, It is making around $100k off Bjorns referrals, even with giving away the Model X.

    1. Boris says:

Bjorn’s referrals would be buying a Tesla anyways, don’t you think?

      1. Pushmi-Pullyu says:

You think of the ten people who, presumably, contacted Bjorn to tell him they were buying a Model S because of his video, every one of those ten actually would have bought one even if they had never seen it?

        I rather strongly suspect otherwise.

As has been said: If anyone deserves to win this prize, it’s Bjorn. “As ye sow, so shall ye reap.”

        Kudos to Bjorn!

        1. Mikael says:

It’s most likely 10 people that were about to buy a Tesla and decided to use Bjorns referal code.

It’s highly unlikely that any of the 10 would not have bought a Tesla without this referal program.

  13. no comment says:

i’ve found nylund’s videos to be rather oddball but he seems like a really nice guy.

  14. Marshal G says:

Agreed it couldn’t go to a nicer and more well deserving person. I think when Tesla gets big enough to start advertising they should hire Bjorn to be their European spokesperson.

    1. Speculawyer says:

      I think they just did.

  15. Phr3d says:

Any fan of the marque knows that Bjorn’s name is Also synonymous with the car – his travels are remarkable, and his first-hand, documented experience with most issues a prospective buyer wonders about make his success in the referral program a win for everyone.

Congrats Bjorn, your fine work has paid off!

Hope they hurry the X to you, as I trust your experiences with it will be well-documented as well (suggest you pony up for the Special Edition).

  16. Speculawyer says:

Well . . . he’s in Norway. Much easier to do it there.

  17. James says:

This system should allow for another of Bjorn’s referrals to pick up for anyone who backs out before they take delivery.

Hopefully, Tesla will fix that, and make this happen.

Hey Bjorn, congratulations! Perhaps you can set up another link and get another 10 by October 31!

  18. James says:

Kudos to Tesla for clever ways of spurring interest in EVs and growing sales.

I think by now, and Electric Car Insider deserve a Model X too, as they and several others are also plainly responsible for numerous new interest in New Energy cars, with Tesla being the absolute cream of the crop.

  19. kubel says:

He deserves it seeing as he’s done more for marketing the Model S than even Tesla’s marketing department has.

  20. Hector Otero Jimenez says:

Happy to see that Bjorn got the car. Is the ambassador of Tesla in Europe, and even if i don’t have driven license I feel a bit like if I own a Model S thanks to his natural amateur experiences uploaded to youtube.

    Thanks a lot Bjorn!

  21. ModernMarvelFan says:

Somehow I am NOT surprised by this as I sort expected of him to win…

He has done a lot for Tesla and winning it is just icing on the cake.

  22. Huffster says:

He’s not officially won yet. Not until all 10 deliveries are made to new customers before someone else, but I’m sure routing for Bjorn to win! Enjoy his videos and watchung the Nimber adventures.

  23. James says:

And whatever you do, Bjorn, DON’T pick up your new free X in Virginia buddy! ~The long arm of the law is watching you! 🙂

  24. E-Golf says:

    Well deserved!

  25. cz-ev says:

Bjorn’s Tesla travels really are entertaining and no one deserves a free Tesla any more than he does. He can make a boring trip funny and entertaining and I love the interaction between he and “Wifey.”
