  1. Josh says:

Is that trunk deeper than the current gen Volt?

    1. MTN Ranger says:

Looks the same to me. The specs are the same too at 10.6 cf.

  2. Evil Attorney says:

Is that a window into the battery?

    1. MTN Ranger says:

It’s so you can wave “high” to all the happy electrons flowing.

  3. Josh says:

Looks like the rear legroom on the passenger rear seat is huge!!! Is that the NBA player / chauffeur version 😉

    1. Speculawyer says:

      I’m assuming this is a joke. :-/

I’m disappointed that they did not lengthen the car do deal with this issue. But I guess that would have raise the cost.

      1. James says:

If it’s any consolation for you, there is .6″ more legroom in back. On the other hand, if you were counting on that sweet 5th seating position, it looks as if any adult would never fit there unless they were a little person.

Notice the deep and steep angle of the seat cushion. This is due to the swoopier roofline with that ever-so-chic “4 door coupe” look. It looks like your bum will be on the floor and that angle under your thighs will help a bit in the legroom department. Comfort? That will be interesting.

What do you think of that venturi-cut in the roof for better air flow? I think it looks really cool. It seems a given there will be no sunroof option.

        1. Speculawyer says:

I like the improved aerodynamics. I just wish they lengthened the car so they could have more passenger space in the back.

I know it gets tiring, but the Tesla Model S got so much right in their car design in terms of passenger/cargo space, aerodynamics, and aesthetics.

        2. eddie says:

OK so we get more than half an inch of extra leg room…how about headroom in the back?

    2. Yep, that’s the new Lyft/Uber version. Cutaway roof optional.

      1. Josh says:

Cutaway roof only available in California 😉

  4. Speculawyer says:

I most appreciate the fact that it is probably very aerodynamic. more so than the previous Volt.

  5. Speculawyer says:

Why can’t we get rid of the shifter!! It is a big waste of space for purely ornamental vestigial control. Replace it with knobs or buttons on the dash or steering column.

That space could have been used for cupholders or a place to put your phone.

  6. Carl S says:

Thank you to Tom M. for all the photos!
As for the 2016 Volt’s fifth seat, I’d choose more range over a fifth seat. GM gave us BOTH!

  7. Ian says:

When are they going to be available, what are the monthly production numbers going to be? Might have to pre order one in order to get one.

  8. Johnny GT says:

Also looks like still no power seats…
My wife and I are constantly driving our Volt on errands, switching back and forth. Having memory seats would be an expensive option that I wouldn’t mind paying for.

    1. Stan says:

based on FB chat yesterday there will be no power seats.

  9. Does the 12 volt battery start the Volt and how does the 12 volt get charged?
