2013 Tesla Model S P85 vs 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged – Video

An all-electric Tesla Model S P85 races a 2012 Range Rover Sport with a Supercharged 5.0L V8.

Our usual comment of, if you were to blink you will miss it, absolutely stands for the video above.

The Model S takes off and before you know it, it disappears from the camera’s view.

This goes to show that you do not need a 12 MPG V8 for unbelievable acceleration and speed.

Surly the initial cost of both vehicles could be about the same, or one can be higher than the other or vise versa, though the Model S’ operating cost are surely much lower.

One might add that a sedan versus an SUV is not a fair comparison.  This is true. We are positive the upcoming AWD Tesla Model X SUV will be a perfect contender up against the Range Rover for those who need more than a sedan. With the Model X having that same Model S practicality, performance, low operating cost and then some.

*Editor’s Note: Racing is for race tracks, not public roads.

Ho, hum – another dinosaur burner gets blown away by a Tesla Model S. 🙂

I went to a playground today and raced a 5 year old. I smoked his ass. Same thing.

A shiny box with a mercedes badge, yawn. I look at gay wagons as a vehicle dumb rich people buy.

i like the 6×6 though…

Tesla the best

It’s still a mystery to my why you would want to use a huge, heavy brick to do drag racing, no matter what engine it has. It makes NO sense.

Tesla model S – 2.100kg
Range Rovert Sport 5.0 – 2.300kg

Not a big difference to me…

It’s still a brick. How unaerodynamic can you make a car?

I would be more interested in seeing an all electric Land Rover go up against the gas Range Rover Sport.

Pre restyled Porsche Panamera Turbo (without lunch control) is on par with P85+ at drag strip. 50/50 depending on Porsche’s start, Tesla is just like a video game.
Maserati QUATTROPORTE S – no chance for Maser.
760 short – bye 🙂
S8 – I don’t no.
Tesla is nice at drag, problem at track – after barely one lap it limits the power, heavy, brakes suck.
But same could be said about most cars of such a size 🙂

Overall – IMHO it performs much better than it costs, especially being compared to other car maker in the class. And it’s very sexy:)

Take it to rubicon trails and see which one wins…
