The concept Volkswagen I.D. Buzz makes its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show this week. After a world premiere in Detroit, the I.D. Buzz spent some time with its predecessor in Miami, Florida. Here we have nice wallpapers from that vacation.

“The I.D. Buzz concept car from Volkswagen celebrates its European debut at the Geneva International Motor Show (9 to 19 March). The new electric MPV is the second model in the I.D. range and provides a look ahead to the future. In particular, it shows that the Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) is well suited to larger vehicles as well: batteries and the drive system are housed within the floor, above which driver and passengers find lots of space for traveling in comfort.

The Geneva International Motor Show is actually the third outing for the I.D. Buzz. Following its world debut at the start of January in Detroit, it had a rendezvous with the T1 for a photo-shoot in Miami, Florida. Even though there are seven decades between Volkswagen’s oldest and newest MPV, the I.D. Buzz undoubtedly has its predecessor’s genes: maximum utilization of space on the footprint of a medium-size passenger car. On top of that comes multi-variable seating and interactive connectivity. Thanks to the extended MEB XL platform, this 194.6-inch long, 77.7-inch wide and 77.3-inch high concept vehicle provides an extraordinary amount of interior space for its class.”

Quick specs on the I.D. BUZZ:

  • MEB architecture
  • Range of 270 miles / 434 miles (EPA) or 600 km (NEDC)
  • 111 kWh battery
  • two electric motors for AWD and total system output: 275 kW/369 horsepower
  • 0-60 mph run in about 5 seconds
  • ability to accept rates of up to 150 kW (80% charging in about half hour)

I think I would have put the indicator arrow on the accelerator pointing up, towards the front, instead of to the right.

    1. Repy says:

It is not an indicator arrow it is the ‘play’ icon and the break pedal has the ‘pause’ icon…

      1. MTN Ranger says:

Similar to the cute + and – on the Mercedes Benz EV concepts.

      2. ffbj says:

Call it what you will. I still would rather have it pointed in the direction I am trying to go.

  2. Jason says:

If VW was serious, we should see this vehicle (or any EV) next year. They certainly have the capability, I just don’t think they have the will.

  3. cab says:

The ultimate tease…they’ve been carting this thing (and pre-EV versions of it) for years now!

    1. SJC says:

People have converted VW microbus to EV for many years, they always draw interest.

  4. Anon says:

The best whores are the ones leaving you wanting more… VW Group is SUCH a tease.

  5. Someone out there says:

    “Range of 270 miles / 434 miles”
That last one should be km shouldn’t it?

  6. Someone out there says:

They need to make this happen as soon as possible!

Although I like the old design more, they should just put an electric drivetrain in that one.

    1. Pushmi-Pullyu says:

The classic VW Microbus was marketed in an era in which there were no minivans, SUVs or CUVs to compete with it for market share.

I think VW is smart for not putting this vehicle into production, because I doubt it can compete in today’s market.

      1. ffbj says:

Yeah, everything changes. I think that is probably correct that it will never be produced, at least in any numbers.

  7. Kiowa says:

I think it can compete in todays market. Look at the Beetle. Gone for a long time but made a come back.

This Minibus has the range people want and has the room inside that people want. The only thing is will they follow thru?

    Fantasy Island?
