Renault ZOE is one of the best electric city cars available on the market today – at least for Europe, where the best selling all-electric vehicle now also has a chance to become the best overall selling plug-in after having moved into a ~12 unit lead ahead of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV through November in the region (17,277 sales vs 17,265).

And with introduction of new Z.E. 40 version debuting from the Paris Motor Show, that includes a much improved 41 kWh battery, and a 300 km/186 miles real world range, the prospects for ZOE in the future are great.

Today for “Wallpaper Wednesday” we have new set of high quality shots of the new ZOE Z.E. 40 from Portugal one can use for your home desktop!

Quick specs on ZOE Z.E. 40:

  • 41 kWh battery (LG Chem)

Oh, and just to add a small little nice to know: Renault is usually stating the usable Capacity. The old Battery in fact had 25.9kWh with 22kWh usable by the Q210 and 23.3kWh by the R240. But in all Specs always stating 22kWh-Battery! The full Capacity of the 41kWh Battery we don’t know yet, but should be around 46-48kWh.
Oh and in Addition during the presentation in Paris it had been confirmed that old Zoe’s will get the Opportunity to upgrade to the bigger Battery (applies to their Battery Leasing/Renting Model) for something around 3.5kEUR. Full Details around that shall be published in early 2017.

      Hi Jack,

      Yep, i also heard that.
I ordered my Q90 Intens ZOE in october, waiting now for it to be delivered…
Cant wait for it – since my Japan Leaf only has 18 kWh usable left. This will be a significant improvement for me. I also need to drive a 200 km route home once a week – now hopefully without charging 😉

I think the ne Z.E. 40 battery has a total capacity of 45 kWh 🙂
      Would be 41 + 4 kWh.

If they really doubled it, it must be somewhere around 52 kWh. So 10 kWh of protection? No. Maybe it is more than 41 kWh in real use? And they only write it. There is no real difference between R90 and Q90 so far. As you already said, R240 had 1.3 kWh more usable capacity than Q210/R210.
We will see. My car should be here in february 2017.

      1. The official capacity is 44kWh.

Man, that 40 kWh Zoe looks so much better than the 22 kWh version! 😉

  7. Steve Withers says:

This is a tempting EV. Great range. Charges reasonably fast given the size of the battery….and looks good. I only need 100kph, so being able to do 135kph is nice, but not a big deal. I’m keeping my Tesla Model 3 reservation, but this could be an ideal second EV.
