There’s something special about this plug-in hybrid Porsche 918 Spyder that keeps us intrigue, despite its near $1 million price tag.

Typically, a vehicle that’s as costly as the 918 doesn’t grab our attention, but this Porsche is an entirely different beast.

As we see it, the 918 Spyder is the most advanced plug-in ever made and a lot of its tech will almost certainly trickle down into others Volkswagen Group offerings in the future.

So, why not understand the inner workings of the 918?

In this video, Porsche takes us deep within the 918 by explaining exactly how it all works and by showing us 918 details we’ve never before seen.

Porsche attaches this description with the video:

“From comfortable to race-ready: the 918 Spyder is equipped with 5 driving modes for 3 motors, that are controlled via an intelligent management system.”

“*Combined fuel consumption in accordance with EU 5: 3.3-3.0 l/100 km, CO2 emissions 79-70 g/km. Electricity consumption 12.5-13.0 kWh/100 km.”

3 motors, front electric, back electric, and ICE. That affords lots of dynamics.

  2. Dan Frederiksen says:

Too heavy, too ICEy. Lame but it’s a beginning. It’s a plugin so they can hardly go back to only ICE.
