Video: Norwegians Solve Electric Vehicle Pedestrian Alert Issue

4 years ago by Electric CarsTV 9

The electric vehicle pedestrian alert debate continues to draw in critics.

Pedestrian Alert?

Pedestrian Alert?

There are some who say the noise pollution simply isn’t necessary, while others insist it’ll save lives and thus should be mandatory.

Then there’s those who believe it should be called upon only by the push of a button.

Well, we can drop the debate entirely now, as three Norwegian comedians have the ultimate solution: foghorns.

Simply push a button and the horn bellows at such a high decibel level that pedestrians flee (or keel over from a heart attack).

Problem solved?  No…but we bet you’ll laugh upon seeing this humorous video.

“Tåg” in Swedish means “train”, so I’m guessing that “toghorn” in Norwegian means “train horn”, not “fog horn”.

When the artificial engine sound is only send into the driving direction, it will be a huge noise level reduction for the entire environment.

That isn’t a fog horn, it’s a rail horn, for maintenance equipment on train tracks, and as close to a true train horn that you can get. They are commonly known as Hornblaster’s shockers. They are 4 plastic train horns with stainless steel diaphrams, about 152dB and suprisingly bassy and reliable.
