Elon Musk Tweets On Half Billion Mile Achievement

Elon Musk Tweets On Half Billion Mile Achievement

Buried in the hoopla surrounding the BIG reveal of the Tesla Model P85D and autopilot was this overlooked Tweet by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

The Tweet confirms a milestone achievement for Model S and Roadster owners around the globe: 500 million cumulative zero emissions miles driven.

For reference, Chevy Volt owners have collectively driven a total of 1-plus billion miles (632-plus million electric miles) and Nissan LEAF owners have driven over 900 million kilometers.

For us, it’s not a race to the most billions of miles driven on electricity, but rather the combined goal driving electrically as often as possible.

Time to reach a billion will be much more rapid.

My wife and I are doing our part- our March 2013 85 kWh Model S just passed 40,000 miles!

Although we probably won’t rack up miles on the Tesla at quite this rate in the future because my daily commute recently went from 50 miles to 26 miles and we’re starting to take my wife’s i3 for short trips because it’s more efficient (and more importantly, she likes the seats better).

    1. Big Solar says:

Yeah, Tesla really needs to fix those seats. It was my only complaint…..

      Good going!

How’s the battery’s range holding up?

      1. Wraithnot says:

I had 262 miles of range left at 30,000 miles. Unfortunately the “high voltage interlock loop” in the main battery failed shortly after so the last 10,000 miles were on the replacement battery.
