If your smartphone is not already password protected, the keyless driving feature is.

If your smartphone is not already password protected, the keyless driving feature is.

Bjørn Nyland shows us a demo of the Tesla Model S’ new keyless driving feature.

You must have a smart phone in order to use this feature.

The keyless driving feature is self-explanatory.  You can activate/ control your Model S without ever touching the key fob… In fact, you can leave that at home if you wish.

Model S owners: If you use/ have used this feature, let us know what you think of it.

I wish I had the feature earlier this year when I washed my key fob!

Tried it once – worked as advertised – nice backup to the fob, but frankly, the fob is easier since I have a complex password. Maybe it it worked with TouchID, I’d think about ditching the fob.

Let’s hope we get a thorough report of his Tesla breaking down, too. Tesla Bergen gave him a loaner that he’s currently driving.

      It’s that 12V system again.

I wonder what’s so problematic about that. Hopefully it’s only afflicting car produced earlier on.

Like the Volt and other FOB starting cars, the Models S will continue to drive even without the FOB in the car once it is started and not “turned off” (park and exit drivers seat). I have had an instance where this occurred. It would be nice for that. I wonder if the phone has to be in a certain proximity to the car or if can start it from anywhere like the Volt.

Any word of a mini App on smartwatches?
