Fiat 500e Super Bowl Commercial – Environmentally Sexy?

In the past we have seen multiple plug-in car commercial air during the big game.  This year however, only one automotive company coughed up the estimated $3.8 million dollars to feature an electric car.

No, not Chevrolet with the Volt, or Nissan with the all-new LEAF.  It was Fiat with the 500e.

Lets repeat.  Fiat – hater of EVs, provoker of other major plug-in makers, is promoting their all-electric, supposedly compliance-only electric vehicle, the 500e. (details on the 87 mile car here)

Here are the rest of the old-school gas burner ads, just for fun:

Toyota RAV4:

Mercedes CLA:

VW New Beetle:

Hyundai Sante Fe:

Audi “Prom”:

Kia “Booth Robots”:

Can’t help myself, just have to add past Super Bowl plug-in Ads:

    Chevy Volt2012:

    Chevy Volt 2011:

    Nissan LEAF 2011:

Nothing to do with electric cars, but probably the best car ad in recent memory (that doesn’t involve a kid in a Darth Vader suit) was the Acura NSX w/Seinfeld 1.5 minute spot from last year:

  2. Open-Mind says:

Instant full-power torque, luxury-car silence, and fuel that costs 1/5th of gasoline … three EV advantages yet to be conveyed in any EV ad. The millions spent on that 500e SuperBowl ad would probably have sold more cars if it had been distributed to buyers as a rebate.
