Smart Introduces An Electric Vehicle Calculator…Like Only They Can
It seems like every automaker that produces a plug-in electric vehicle has one. Every government agency that promotes green energy has one too.
EV cost-savings calculators.
Sometimes they are a little overly ambitious – such as the case with Tesla and the Model S leasing calculator, while some others are very practical and offer users not only the regional price of gas, but also electricity costs – such with the DoE’s eGallon calculator.
However when it comes to Smart, they seem to always march to a different beat…so why not with calculators as well? We will give you an example of how the calculator works in conjunction with their all-new Smart Electric Drive (from $25,000) before you can try it out yourself.
First you pick a profile that fits you…for us we will select the “bumper humper“:
Then Smart tells us that we will save $1,342 after we have driven our all new Smart ED coupe (or convertible) for 12 months; as well as offering a suggestion what to do with that savings…
Not into fighter jets? Well how do you feel about eating 86 pounds of crab?
You can check out Smart’s calculator to see how much you could save in a Smart ED here.
Sidenote: This story was originally to be written by our Senior Editor – Mr. Eric Loveday (which means it probably could have been much better); however, after writing only 2 articles today and editing another, Mr. Loveday selfishly left the office this afternoon to go get married. Needless to say, we now have an opening at InsideEVs for a Senior Editor . If you wish to forward us your resume, hit up the “Contact Us” tab at the top of the page.
In all seriousness, congrats to Eric and his new wife….and we’ll see you back at work in a couple hours
