3 years ago by Darren Schurig 3

If you are going to be in Southern California September 20, the plug-in event in Huntington Beach is the place to be. Due to the overwhelming response by manufacturers of exciting plug in products, it is now titled Plug In To Excitement!

Snazzy New Name For The Event!

Snazzy New Name For The Event!

Boasting 250,000 sq. ft. of event space, larger than 4 football fields, and already more than 40 corporate and company exhibitors, it is poised to be one of the largest Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) events in the country, if not the world. Attendance is conservatively forecast at 20,000, it could easily be double that. There will be more than 20 automobiles to see and drive and there are even global debuts on tap!

Every single OEM with a plug in on the market in California is represented as well as some that are still pending release here. But this is not just an automobile exhibit, there will also be electric bicycles and skateboards to ride, electric surfboard demos and exotics, trucks, motorcycles, boats, and buses to see. Zero will have motorcycles to ride! One of the only 1917 Detroit 62 Cabriolets in existence will be on display and EV West will showcase a fleet of their amazing electric vehicle projects.

Of course there will also be special guests. Matthew Harper, Mayor of Surf City will open the event, Joe Shaw, longtime environmentalist and Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tempore will address the audience and Ed Kjaer, Director at Southern California Edison, whose lifelong personal and professional passion is transportation electrification, will speak. Kitty Adams will share her lifelong commitment to sustainable transportation as well as her amazing journey with Adopt-A-Charger.

Talk to representatives from the utilities providers, photovoltaic manufacturers and installers, EV supply equipment manufacturers, public charging station companies, conversion and after-market product manufacturers and retailers. California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE) will have a booth to answer rebate questions and LAEDC is exhibiting to discuss their involvement in CleanTech and Advanced Transportation. Hyatt Regency, Costco, Motivo, Exhibit Options and Hydra are partners on the expo.

It is a family event, bring the kids to have their own experience including bounce houses, games, electric RC plane demonstrations and other entertainment. Arrive in a PEV and receive preferred parking. There are contests, giveaways and more PEV information than you will be able to process in one day.

A professionally filmed and edited video replete with drone footage will be produced and distributed after the festivities.

So go to the web page Plug In To Excitement! , register to attend (first 250 vehicles registered receive free parking), check out all of the phenomenal exhibitors and speakers, share and like it on facebook and follow it on Twitter for daily updates on developments as they happen.

We definitely want to throw a shout out to our brother from another mother Ted Dillard (featured writer on all things electric and two wheeled here at InsideEVs) as he and his plug in community of amazing motorcycles and vehicles on the opposite coast prepare to kick off this week long celebration with their Mt Washington Auto Road ALT-Energy Summit. We wish we could be there but we are a little busy at the moment, perhaps next year – we will look forward with great anticipation to Ted’s magnificent prose on the event.

  1. ELROY says:

Isn’t this the same day as the Santa Monica alternative energy vehicle expo? Can’t believe they would have it the same day when they are so geographically close.

  2. yiiikes says:

    Elroy,
That is very unfortunate. I spent substantial effort trying to get one or the other to move the date but everybody was locked in. There are 20 million humans in the SoCal metropolitan area, there will be enough to go around.

  3. Mark Cameron says:

Hey Darren,..Its no surprise that you are spearheading the electric car movement,…is it possible to use a small diesel engine to keep the batteries charged giving the car more range,…also using the rotation of the wheels to recharge the batteries as well,..looking forward to your response,..as I would like to do this in Jamaica.
