Jaguar tells Autocar the development story behind the C-X75 plug-in supercar in this quality behind-the-scenes video presentation.

Jaguar C-X75 – One Of The Most Advanced Vehicles Ever

Rob Atkin, Vehicle and Programme Manager for the C-X75 explains what Jaguar asked of a hand-picked team of engineers in May of 2011:

“Our challenge was monumental – we needed to achieve the performance of a Veyron, the range of a Volt and the CO2 of a Prius”

And while they achieved those goals, it’s a shame there wasn’t a 4th criteria – price of Fisker Karma (up to $116,000), because the near $1.5 million USD pricetag was the C-X75’s ultimate undoing, as production was cancelled in December of 2012.

Autocar also recently did a very good last “first drive” video on the vehicle, which you can find here.

  1. kdawg says:

So what were the actual specs? And could it take a Tesla?

So it’s basically a turbo / supercharged 4 cyl…. sounds a bit like the Lancia Delta S4… which was big news… 28 years ago!! BFD!

They haven’t even revealed which axle the 2x electric motors are on?? The original concept was a series hybrid with AWD wheel motors… must’ve been too hard for Jag/Williams to pull that off.
