Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV didn’t have a strong month in August in Japan as just 457 were delivered, which is one of the lowest numbers ever for the plug-in SUV.

With 148 all-electric MiEVs added in, total Mitsubishi plug-in sales in Japan amounted to 605 units in August.

In total, Mitsubishi delivered 6,910 plug-in hybrids and 1,299 all-electric cars in Japan in the first eight months of 2014.

It could be interesting to look at how this compares with Nissan LEAF sales – much more stable in recent years.

Nissan sold 912 in August and 9,121 in the first eight months of 2014.

Sadly, we are still missing Toyota Prius Plug-in data for Japan, but we will hunt that down sooner or later.

    excluding 2013 battery issues

from Sept 2013 onwards, good months for Outlander PHEV are good months for LEAF

and poorer months for LEAFs are pooer months for Outlander PHEV
